Biography
Marie Vermeulen-Breedt is a South African portrait painter born in 1954 in Pretoria. She earned a BA in Fine Art (distinction) from UNISA and later studied portrait techniques in London at the Royal Academy (1976). She is best known for her masterful portraits of children and young people. Working in oil, her style is highly detailed and reminiscent of old masters; she captures the innocence and personality of her subjects. Vermeulen-Breedt's sensitive depiction of youth has made her work popular among collectors worldwide. Her paintings appear in private and corporate collections on several continents.
