Biography

Stan Polson (born 1971) is a South African landscape painter who emphasizes the emotional power of color. Based in Johannesburg, he believes vivid color can instantly set a mood. Polson's paintings feature tranquil countryside scenes made rich and vibrant through lush color choices. He draws inspiration from simple pleasures – a child's smile, a rainy day's scent or a beautiful sunrise – aiming to express “all that makes life worth living” in his work. His subjects include river valleys, farmhouses and African trees, often bathed in warm light. Using oils and acrylics, Polson's work invites the viewer to experience familiar landscapes in a dreamlike, idealized way.
