Jacques (born Pieter Jacques Krugel in 1958) is a South African landscape artist from Mpumalanga. He earned a National Diploma in Graphic Design, then shifted to full-time painting. Jacques is best known for vivid acrylic canvases of the African outdoors: scenic vistas populated by Nguni cattle, indigenous aloe plants, ostriches and baobab trees. His work exhibits a stylized, illustrative quality. By using a bright, high-contrast palette and carefully composed nature scenes, Jacques captures the feel of rural South Africa. His paintings sell through local galleries and have found an audience among collectors of South African wildlife and landscape art.
