Paul Munro is a South African plein-air painter and adventurer. A former surfer, he is often seen painting outdoors or in a traveling studio built by his son. Munro works in oils and acrylics, painting landscapes (especially the Karoo and Cape coastal regions), farm interiors and animals. He travels throughout South Africa with an easel, having backpacked the country painting its scenery. Munro is known for his imaginative, memory-based approach: he paints scenes from life without reference photos, capturing the essence of South African vistas with warmth and color. His works frequently sell out in galleries for their atmospheric, inviting quality.
