Petro Neal

Biography

Petro Neal is a South African painter and sculptor born in 1945 in Brits, North West Province. She originally trained as a teacher, earning a diploma with honors in education, before pursuing art. In 1991 she enrolled at the Pieter Millard Art School and later studied sculpture with Charles Gothard and painting with Mimi van der Merwe. Neal's style is impressionistic, with a strong emphasis on color and gesture. She often paints still lifes of flowers and engaging portraits of children. Her bright, bold works have been widely exhibited and collected – her paintings have traveled internationally to Japan, Europe, Canada and beyond. As a devout Christian, she infuses her art with a sense of purpose, believing each painting is a gift to be shared.
