Rache Gerber

Biography

Rache Gerber is a South African artist from Paarl, born in 1973. She studied teaching and holds a Diploma in Higher Education, but her passion has always been art. Gerber comes from a family of artists and began drawing as a child. She has illustrated several books, especially children's books, and this influences her subject choice: children are her favorite subject. Gerber's work is characterized by gentle, figurative portraits and scenes, often with a narrative feel. She has worked in both Afrikaans and English editions and gained recognition through winning art contests and doing commissioned pieces (e.g. a wedding decor painting for the South African Defense Force). Her style is warm and detailed, reflecting her illustrative background.
